Eugene Snyman on Growth in the APAC Region

As Cambridge Associates celebrates 25 years in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, Eugene Snyman, APAC Regional Head, sat down for an exclusive interview with The Business Times. He shared how the firm is working with family offices and institutions in the Asia-Pacific to put capital to work in alternatives, including hedge funds, as well as the growth of the firm’s Asia-Pacific business over the years.

Over the past five years, Cambridge Associates has seen its APAC assets under management and advisement rise by more than 20% to around US$20 billion, driven mainly by private clients, which grew by 60 per cent. Discretionary and outsourced chief investment officer services in particular grew 500 per cent to around US$2 billion in the region.

Cambridge Associates’ original client base was endowments and foundations, which also continue to grow in the business. While private clients have seen a 60 per cent growth, the firm’s endowments and foundations business has grown 25 per cent in the APAC region over the past five years.
