Thomas A. Gormley III
Managing Director, Hedge Funds
Thomas (Tom) Gormley is a Managing Director at Cambridge Associates.
Tom joined the firm in 2007 and has more than 30 years of industry experience. He is a member of the firm’s Hedge Fund Research Group and also serves on the firm’s Hedge Fund Committee. Previously, he advised clients on the construction of custom hedge fund portfolios.
Prior to joining Cambridge Associates, Tom was the Chief Operating Officer for two start-up long/short equity hedge fund managers—Long Trail Investment Management and Round Tower Capital—which he helped establish. In these roles, he was responsible for developing and overseeing the firms’ and funds’ day-to-day operations. At Round Tower, he also contributed to the firm’s investment management and trading processes. Before forming Round Tower, Tom briefly served as Vice President and Investor Services Counsel at Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. Earlier in his career, he was an Associate in the Financial Services practice group at Dechert LLP, where he counseled clients on legal and regulatory issues. Tom was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in December 1996.
Outside of work, Tom serves as a Finance and Investment Committee member and Trustee at Ursuline Academy in Dedham, MA. He was previously a Board and Investment Committee member at the Dedham Historical Society as well as an Advisory Board Member of the Boston Hedge Fund Group.
Tom received his JD from Suffolk University Law School and his BA in Classics from the College of the Holy Cross.
