Anti-Fraud and Investor Security

Cambridge Associates is dedicated to protecting our investors. Information security is critical to us and our clients.

Fraud and scams come in many forms. Targeted scams using the internet continue to rise in the financial industry. We encourage investors to be cautious of the dangers of online scams and to exercise due caution in clicking links in emails and when visiting websites and social media.

Websites

It is quick and easy for scammers to create a new website to impersonate a person or business. Fake or “cloned” websites are increasingly common.

Fraudulent websites may look genuine but are designed to impersonate the original by mimicking the look and feel combined with a web address that is visually like the original as part of efforts to commit fraud against unsuspecting victims.

When accessing our website, please confirm the URL address to ensure it is https://www.cambridgeassociates.com.

Fraudulent websites may look legitimate and may even have a web address that is very similar to the Cambridge Associates address. However, on closer inspection, the differences can be spotted, such as any misspellings or abbreviations in URL addresses.

We regularly search for websites that register and use URL addresses similar to our own. We also take steps to ensure early identification of fraudulent activity and issue requests for “take-down” of such sites. Unfortunately, these requests take time and must be verified to avoid impacting legitimate businesses.

Fraudulent websites may also make false claims of business affiliations with Cambridge Associates. Specific claims of any association between Cambridge Associates and Svoda Global Markets are entirely false and unauthorized.

Social Media Scams

Fraudsters may attempt to target victims through direct messaging and social media such as WhatsApp, Instagram, X, and other sites. Cambridge Associates does not solicit or engage in business through these platforms. The only social media platform that Cambridge Associates maintains is LinkedIn.

Recently, WhatsApp has emerged as a favorite vehicle for targeted scams by impersonating investment advisors and inviting targets to private investment channels. Scammers often setup fake websites or LinkedIn profiles to add legitimacy to their claims.

Please report incidents to local authorities and the website owner. Reporting these activities is our best collective option to root out online fraud. Here are a few helpful links to report scams and fake profiles on popular social media sites.

  • WhatsApp scammers may be reported here.
  • Instructions for reporting impersonation to LinkedIn are located here.
  • Instructions for reporting impersonation to Instagram are here.
  • X (formerly Twitter) reporting information is here.
