Alex Shivananda

Alex Shivananda is a Partner and Head of Global Secondaries at Cambridge Associates.

Alex joined Cambridge Associates in 2016 and has over 20 years of private equity and venture capital experience. In his role, Alex oversees and manages investment portfolios, leading an investment team with a focus on global secondary investments and co-investments. During his tenure, Alex founded the secondaries transaction group and developed and led the secondaries and co-investment groups.

He has held multiple leadership roles across the private equity spectrum delivering investor returns as a fund manager, general partner, and board member in private equity, as a strategist and corporate finance advisor, and as an operator of private equity and venture backed businesses.

Alex is a voting member on CA’s Secondaries Investment Committee, Co-Investment Investment Committee, and Discretionary Private Investments Investment Committee. He also frequently speaks at client and industry conferences.

Alex has a multinational background and has lived and worked in the United Kingdom, The Netherlands, and the United States. Prior to joining Cambridge Associates, he held many roles including being Managing Director and Office Head at HgCapital, a middle-market private equity firm. He was also a Management Consultant at OC&C advising corporates and private equity, an advisor to other private equity firms, a technology entrepreneur, a corporate operations, and an M&A executive.

Alex received his MBA from Harvard Business School and his MSc in Engineering from the Delft University of Technology.
