MILAN (May 15, 2018) – Cambridge Associates was awarded “Investment Consultancy of the Year” at the 2018 IPE Real Estate Global Conference & Awards in Milan. The award recognizes the firm’s expertise and implementation of real assets and real estate portfolios for institutional investors. Meagan Nichols, managing director and global head of the firm’s Real Assets Investment Group, and Indeesh Tangeraas, a managing director focused on real assets based in Europe, were in attendance and accepted the award.
Nichols participated on a panel earlier in the day where she offered insights around inflation hedging strategies. In particular she pointed out, “I don’t think there is really a perfect hedge, but we have found that putting together a basket of inflation-sensitive securities has more durability… That basket would include things like listed natural resources funds, commodities, potentially gold as well as real estate, infrastructure and credit.”
Cambridge Associates’ Real Assets Investment Group is a 20+ person team around the globe that provides clients with global investment management services across the full spectrum of public and private markets, including real estate, infrastructure, and natural resources debt and equity. The RAIG takes an integrated approach to making property investments via open and closed-end funds, separate accounts, and co-investments alongside investment managers.
Over the decades, the firm has built up an extensive network that feeds into its proprietary global manager database currently covering 1,100 real estate managers and over 2,800+ real estate funds, across strategies (core, core+, value added, and opportunistic), property types (industrial, office, retail, residential, hospitality, and alternatives), geographies, and vehicle types.
The firm’s real estate investment philosophy comprises three main pillars, (1) the desired role of real estate in a client’s portfolio and investment objectives will drive portfolio construction; (2) real estate is cyclical so consider investing tactically; and (3) focus on proven real estate investment partners with demonstrated operational expertise.
