Consultant Urges Institutions to Take Racial Equality Investing Plunge
Highlighting Cambridge Associates’ research, Social Equity Investing: Righting Institutional Wrongs by Erin Harkless and Ashley Cohen, Harkless explains how investment opportunities that promote racial and social equality can provide financial benefits to investors.
Harkless, focused on mission-related investments for family offices and nonprofit institutions, shares that while “many institutional investors have promoted social and racial equity through grant making and philanthropic efforts,” some investors are “extending those initiatives and looking for investment solutions that are directly correlated to social and racial equity.”
“We’re seeing a lot of strategies as more institutional investors are demanding this and applying this lens to address diversity and inclusion broadly,” she said. “I think that will yield a more robust opportunity set.”
