Sandra A. Urie
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Sandy Urie is Cambridge Associates’ Chairman and Chief Executive Officer and has been with the firm since 1985. Prior to assuming the CEO position, she was the Chief Operating Officer with responsibility for directing the firm’s global investment services.

Before Sandy joined Cambridge Associates, she worked as a member of the faculty at Phillips Academy (Andover) where she taught Russian language and served on the Admissions Office staff. She also served on the School’s development office staff where she had responsibilities for capital fund raising and eventually assumed the position of Associate Secretary of the Academy with responsibility for the School’s annual giving and alumni programs.

Sandy was a member and vice-chair of the Investors’ Committee of The US President's Working Group on Financial Markets (2007-2010) focusing on defining best practices in alternative assets, including due diligence and ongoing oversight. She currently serves on the Board of Overseers at Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Board of Overseers at Boston Lyric Opera, Board of Directors at Social Finance, Inc., Stanford Management Company Board of Directors, and the Global Board of 100 Women in Hedge Funds as Vice Chair. Sandy also currently serves on the Board of The Plymouth Rock Company. She formerly served on the Boards of the Yale School of Management, the Board of Visitors of the New England Baptist Hospital, Homesite Group Incorporated, Phillips Academy, Belmont Day School, Buckingham Browne & Nichols School, the Board of Overseers at the deCordova Museum, and the Board of Overseers of The Institute of Contemporary Art. Sandy was an honoree at the 2005 "Women Who Make a Difference" award ceremony, hosted annually by the National Council for Research on Women. Sandy graduated from Stanford University and received an MPPM degree from the Yale School of Organization and Management. She has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Scott A. Berney
President and Chief Operating Officer

Scott is the President and Chief Operating Officer at Cambridge Associates. He oversees all of the firm’s investment services and internal functions. Scott previously worked as an investment associate and then an investment director at Cambridge Associates from 1991 to 1995. During that time, he worked with a wide range of nonprofit and private clients and also helped to oversee and develop the firm’s modeling capabilities.

Before Scott joined Cambridge Associates, he worked at Monitor Group as a strategy consultant with a focus in health care and financial services, leading projects in areas such as merger integration, marketing strategy and segmentation, and organizational design and strategy. He also served as the head of US recruiting.

Scott serves as Director and President Emeritus of the Harvard University Band Foundation, a foundation that supports a group of Harvard-affiliated performing arts organizations. He graduated from Harvard University and received an MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar.

Steven Y. Quintero
General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer

Steve is the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer and Managing Director at Cambridge Associates. He has been with the firm since 2007. In his role, Steve oversees our global compliance and legal functions.

Before joining Cambridge Associates, Steve worked for seven years in the Enforcement Division of the US Securities and Exchange Commission, most recently serving as an Assistant District Administrator in the SEC's Boston office. In that role, he managed two branches of supervisors, attorneys, and paraprofessionals with responsibility for enforcement of the federal securities laws in the New England region. Prior to that, he worked as a litigation associate in a Boston law firm and served a judicial clerkship with a federal district court judge. Steve graduated from Harvard University and received his JD from Stanford Law School

Jill N. Bicks
Head of People Development

Jill is the Head of People Development at Cambridge Associates. She oversees the firm's Global Human Resources, Learning and Development, Recruiting, Office Services and Administrative Support. In addition, she leads several initiatives aimed at calibrating and improving efficiency and productivity within the firm.

Before Jill joined Cambridge Associates in 2010, she was a partner at Monitor Group with dual responsibility for internal and commercial leadership within the consulting firm. She was a member of the firm’s global Executive Team responsible for internal communication and engagement of personnel. She was also responsible for selling, delivery, and account management of consulting engagements and specialized in advising clients on innovation and change management. Prior to joining Monitor, Jill worked in the White House Office for Economic and Domestic Policy.

Jill graduated cum laude from Harvard College with a BA in Economics. She received a postgraduate diploma in History from the University of Sheffield in England and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Johanna (Jody) H. Fink
Head of Practices and Deputy Head of Global Investment Services

Jody is the Head of Practices, Deputy Head of Global Investment Services and a Managing Director of the firm. She works closely with the Head of Global Investment Services and with each of our practice leaders in pensions, private clients and non-profit institutions to set strategy and to coordinate resources. She also works closely with the Heads of CA Capital Management to coordinate client services, staffing and professional development for our advisory staff. Additionally, Jody serves a select number of clients as an investment advisor.

Jody began her career with Cambridge Associates as an analyst, eventually being promoted to senior analyst and team leader before leaving the firm for business school. Before she re-joined Cambridge Associates in 1999, she was Manager of Team Operations with the National Basketball Association in New York, where she directed the league-wide Revenue Assistance Program, provided strategic consulting to the front offices of all 29 professional basketball teams, and helped to create the operational and strategic plan for a new developmental league, the NBDL. Prior to this, she was an Associate with McKinsey & Company, Inc in their Boston and New York offices.

Jody graduated from Harvard College magna cum laude and received an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Steven W. Nelson
Head of Portfolio Services

Steve is Head of Portfolio Services and a Managing Director of the firm. Steve oversees the development and management of our portfolio management products and services that support our clients’ investment offices and our investment teams. These include our Quantitative Resources Group, Benchmark Services Organization, Performance Reporting, Research Navigator, and our Manager Information and Client Data groups. He works closely with David Shukis and Jody Fink in ensuring our investment teams have the support they need to do the very best for our clients. Steve joined the firm in 1998, and relocated to Singapore in 2001 to establish the firm’s presence in Asia, leading the development of our investment services practice in the region until June 2008.

Steve has authored several research reports, including Japanese Distressed Investing, Chinese Venture Capital, and Investing in Listed Chinese Equities. He regularly represents the firm at industry events and presents at the firm’s client conferences. From 2002 to 2004, he was a member of the Financial Services Committee with the Singapore chapter of the American Chamber of Commerce. Steve graduated from Boston College.

Our goal is to create a platform of investment office solutions that provide superior coverage of the global markets, contribute to more informed decision making, and ultimately, drive superior investment performance. We are increasingly delivering these tools directly to client desktops, where they can positively impact investment staff productivity and effectiveness.
Deirdre D. Nectow
Head of Global Business Development

Deirdre is the Director of Global Business Development and a Managing Director of the firm. She is responsible for overseeing all of the firm’s global marketing, client relations, and public relations activities.

Before Deirdre joined Cambridge Associates in 2003, she spent seven years at Fidelity Investments where she held a variety of strategic marketing and consulting roles. Her most recent position was Senior Vice President of Marketing for the charitable services area, where she was responsible marketing The Fidelity® Charitable Gift Fund as well as launching a private foundation business. Prior to her Fidelity experience, she spent eight years as a strategy consultant at Price Waterhouse and CSC Index, where she was responsible for developing strategic plans, market entry strategies, and organizational efforts and strategies for financial services organizations. She also spent four years as a commercial lending officer at Bankers Trust Company.

Deirdre graduated cum laude from Mount Holyoke College with a BA in economics and received an MBA from the University of Chicago. She is an active fundraiser for several educational causes.

David T. Shukis
Head of Global Investment Services

David is the Head of Global Investment Services and a Managing Director of the firm. David is responsible for providing overall strategic direction for investment services to our clients. David works closely with David Jallits, Head of Global Investment Research, to fully integrate the latest thinking from our research organization for the benefit of our investment advisors who work with our clients every day. He and the more than 200 investment advisors in his organization are accountable for delivering the highest level of service to clients in all practice areas and meeting or exceeding these clients’ investment objectives. For three years, David served as the head of Investment Manager Research at Cambridge Associates and prior to that, served as director of the firm’s Hedge Fund advisory practice after many years advising clients across the firm’s practices.

Prior to joining Cambridge Associates in 1989, David was Vice President, Project Finance at Bank of New England. In this role, he originated, structured, and negotiated complex non-recourse financings for clients throughout the United States. Prior to this, he was the Assistant Vice President, Communication Division, at Bank of Boston, where he was involved with structuring and syndicating financing for companies in the entertainment and communications industries.

David graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and received an MA in History from Brown University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He has also earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

David is a member of the Board of Directors of Boston Lyric Opera.

David Jallits
Head of Global Investment Research

David is the Head of Global Investment Research and a Managing Director of the firm. David oversees more than 150 professionals dedicated to researching institutional quality long-only and alternative investment managers in addition to leading our Capital Markets efforts. Prior to this position, David served as head of the firm’s Arlington, Virginia office and led Cambridge’s Derivative Specialists Group. David has more than 25 years of investment management experience.

Before joining Cambridge Associates, David was the director and senior portfolio manager at The Capital Fund for 12 years. In this role, he co-managed a $4 billion global macro hedge fund where he was primarily responsible for all commodities, emerging market, and equity investments. Prior to working at The Capital Fund, David was a portfolio manager at the hedge fund Teton Partners, where he focused on macro investing. He was also a portfolio manager at Putnam Investments, where he was responsible for managing several billion dollars in multi-currency global bond portfolios. Finally, David led a proprietary trading group at Citibank that allocated the firm’s capital across multiple asset classes.

David has a BS in Finance with a concentration in Economics from the University of Illinois.
