Marketable Research Consultants
Marketable Research Consultants gather, analyze, and disseminate information about the marketable asset class and its investment managers. The research consultant is a member of a team responsible for identifying high-quality investment firms and products, monitoring firms that are investing for our clients, and acting as a resource for the firm's Investment Consultants.
Principal Duties
- Identify and Monitor Managers: Using proprietary, internally developed evaluation methodologies, identify and monitor investment management products that best meet the needs, performance objectives, and risk tolerances of the firm's clients. Assist Group Director in maintaining a list of viable and recommendable investment management products.
- Perform Investment Manager Evaluation: Conduct due diligence on U.S. marketable asset managers. Interview portfolio managers, analysts, and marketers representing institutionally-oriented investment management firms. Coordinate and conduct proprietary research to identify salient aspects, both positive and negative, of specific investment management strategies.
- Conduct Investment Manager Selection: Provide manager selection assistance to consultants. Ascertain both client objectives and search parameters, and propose lists of suitable search candidates.
- Conduct Asset Class Research: Conduct asset class reviews aimed at refining the integrity of the data and research. Maintain a current knowledge of the asset class and its performance in the capital markets.
- Disseminate Research: Compose substantive qualitative comments on manager meetings and developments of funds we follow, and submit to firm's inner-web. Participate in semi-annual consultant meetings, monthly consultant conference calls, and client conferences.
Qualifications and Experience
- An MBA or CFA strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 - 8 years of related investment experience. The ideal candidate will have experience reviewing money managers or managing an equity portfolio.
- Demonstrated analytical skills and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral presentation and writing.
