Marketable Alternative Assets (Hedge Funds) Research Consultants
Marketable Alternative Assets (Hedge Funds) Research Consultants gather, analyze, and disseminate information about the marketable alternative (hedge funds) asset class and its investment managers. The research consultant is a member of a team responsible for identifying high-quality investment firms and products, monitoring firms that are investing for our clients, and acting as a resource for the firm's investment consultants.
Principal Duties
- Identify and Monitor Managers: Identify and monitor investment management products that best meet the needs, performance objectives, and risk tolerances of the firm's clients. Assist group director in maintaining a list of viable and desirable investment management products.
- Perform Investment Manager Evaluation: Conduct due diligence on marketable alternative asset managers. Interview portfolio managers, analysts, and marketers. Coordinate and conduct proprietary research to identify aspects, both positive and negative, of specific investment management strategies.
- Conduct Investment Manager Selection: Provide manager selection assistance to consultants. Ascertain both client objectives and search parameters, and propose lists of suitable search candidates.
- Conduct Asset Class Research: Research and write periodic research on various strategies employed by hedge funds.
- Disseminate Research: Compose substantive qualitative comments on manager meetings and developments of funds we follow, and submit to firm's inner-web. Participate in consultant meetings, monthly consultant conference calls, and client conferences.
Qualifications and Experience
- BA/BS required, MBA and/or CFA strongly preferred
- Two to four years' related investment experience; familiarity with marketable alternatives preferred
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects at one time
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Strong analytical and statistical skills, and the ability to work independently
